🔍 What Is CSV Mapping?
CSV Mapping is the step inside CSV Import where you tell 3Dsellers which column in your CSV file matches which field in 3Dsellers.
Before your products can be imported, 3Dsellers needs to know things like:
Which column holds the SKU
Which column holds the Title
Which column holds the Description
Which column holds the Price, Quantity, Images, and so on
Without correct mapping, your products won't import properly — fields will be empty, mismatched, or skipped.
Match Columns With AI speeds this up by reading your CSV and suggesting the right mapping automatically, so you don't have to match each field manually.
✨ What Is Match Columns With AI?
Match Columns With AI is a one-click tool inside the CSV Mapping screen that uses AI to auto-map your CSV file's columns to the matching 3Dsellers product fields.
You can then review every suggestion, adjust anything that isn't right, and import.
👥 Who Should Use It?
✅ Sellers importing CSV files from other platforms or tools (Inkfrog, eBay exports, custom spreadsheets, suppliers, ERPs)
✅ Sellers with unfamiliar column names they don't want to map manually
✅ Sellers doing first-time imports who aren't sure which 3Dsellers field corresponds to which column
✅ Anyone who wants a faster setup before fine-tuning the mapping

(Optional) Click Save Mapping Preset to reuse this mapping next time.
Click Start Import when ready.
🧩 The CSV Mapping Screen — Full Walkthrough
The Mapping screen has several controls that work together. Here's what each one does.
📑 Mapping Presets
Mapping Presets let you save a complete mapping configuration and reuse it for future imports.
Useful if you import the same file format repeatedly (for example, the same supplier CSV every week).
After mapping your file, click Save Mapping Preset to store it under a name of your choice.
On future imports, choose your preset from the Mapping Presets dropdown to automatically fill in all mapping settings for that source.
To remove a preset you no longer need, click the trash icon next to its name in the dropdown.
🔄 Migration Source
The Migration Source dropdown tells 3Dsellers that your CSV came from a known external platform, so it can apply special handling automatically.
Currently supported sources include:
None (3Dsellers...) — default; treat the CSV as a standard 3Dsellers import.
Inkfrog Migration — for sellers moving from Inkfrog.
When Inkfrog Migration is selected, 3Dsellers automatically adjusts how images are handled (see Image Settings below).
🏷️ Tags
The Tags field lets you apply one or more tags to every product being imported in this CSV.
Type to search existing tags, or add new ones.
Tags help you organize and filter your products and listings later inside 3Dsellers.
💡 Tip: Use tags like supplier-name, batch-2026-Q1, or promo-summer to group imports for easy filtering later.
🖼️ Images & Image Settings
Click the Images button to open Image Settings, which controls how product images behave during the import.
Options include:
🟦 Auto assign hosted images to matching items SKUs Images already in your 3Dsellers Image Hosting tab that share the same SKU as imported products will be automatically attached to those products.
Useful when you've pre-uploaded images to 3Dsellers and only need the CSV to provide product data.
🟦 Optimize images before hosting Compresses and optimizes images before they're stored in your 3Dsellers image hosting.
Helps reduce storage usage and improves load speed for your listings.
❗ Inkfrog migration notice: If you selected Inkfrog Migration as the Migration Source, images must be re-hosted on 3Dsellers because Inkfrog image URLs expire. 3Dsellers will handle this automatically.
🔎 Find Category ID
The Find Category ID tool helps you locate the correct eBay category ID to include in your CSV.
Click the Find Category ID dropdown to choose between:
Find eBay Category IDs — search standard eBay categories.
Find eBay Store Category IDs — search your own eBay Store categories.
📊 The Mapping Table
After running AI Match (or manually configuring mapping), the mapping table shows four columns:
Column | What it does |
3Dsellers Products field | The 3Dsellers internal field (e.g. Title, SKU, Description, Tags). |
Matching Field From Uploaded CSV | Dropdown to choose the CSV column that maps to this 3Dsellers field. Choose Don't import to skip. |
Preview | A live sample value from your CSV showing what will be imported for this field. |
Fallback | A default value used when the CSV row is missing that field, or as a constant value applied to all rows. |
👀 Preview Row Selector
The Preview column shows a sample value taken from your CSV file, so you can verify the mapping is correct before importing.
Use the Row dropdown at the top of the Preview column (e.g. Row 1, Row 2, Row 3…) to preview values from different rows of your CSV.
This is especially helpful when Row 1 has empty cells but later rows have data — switching the preview row helps you confirm the mapping works for typical products in your file.
💡 Tip: Hover the ⓘ icon next to the Row dropdown for a quick reminder: "Sample value from the chosen CSV row for this field. Use the dropdown to preview a different row."
🔁 Fallback Values
The Fallback column lets you set a value that 3Dsellers will use in either of these situations:
A row is missing that field — Fallback fills in the gap.
You want a constant value across the entire import — Fallback applies the same value to every product.
Example use case (constant value): If every product in your CSV uses the same shipping carrier, set the carrier as the Fallback — you don't need to include a carrier column in your CSV at all.
Example use case (missing data): If most rows have a price but a few are empty, set a default price as the Fallback so those rows still import successfully.
💡 Tip: Fallback is one of the most powerful parts of the Mapping screen. Use it to keep your CSV files simpler and to avoid failed rows from missing data.
🧮 Mapping Sections
Fields in the mapping table are grouped into sections so they're easier to navigate:
Mapping SKU — Parent SKU, SKU, and Choose variation format (Parent SKU / Variation SKU)
Main Listing Info — Title, SubTitle, Description, Tags, Listing Designer Template
SEO — MetaKeywords, MetaDescription, MobileDescription
Plus additional sections covering Category, Pricing, Inventory, Shipping, Policies, Variations, Images, Car Compatibility, and more.
🔧 Choose Variation Format
Inside the Mapping SKU section you'll find Choose variation format, with two options. The right choice depends on where your CSV came from:
🟦 Parent SKU Use this option when your CSV follows 3Dsellers' own Parent SKU template format.
This is the format used by the Variation (Parent SKU) CSV Template you can download from the top of the Import New Products screen.
Pick this when you're building variations from scratch in a 3Dsellers-formatted file, or editing existing ones using 3Dsellers' structure.
🟦 Variation SKU Use this option when your CSV is an exported CSV report of variations from eBay.
This is the format you get when you export a listing with variations directly out of eBay.
Pick this when you're importing or updating variations using a file that came from eBay's own export, rather than a 3Dsellers template.
💡 Tip: When in doubt, check where your file came from:
File downloaded as a 3Dsellers template → Parent SKU
File exported from eBay with variation data → Variation SKU
📥 Supported File Sources & Limits
You can upload your CSV using three methods:
Upload File From Computer — pick a local file.
Upload File From https Link — provide a direct https URL.
Upload From FTP/SFTP — pull the file from an FTP/SFTP server.
File limits:
Max file size: 75 MB
Max rows: 75,000
You can also schedule a CSV file to import automatically from a URL on a recurring basis. To learn more, see Schedule CSV Uploads From a URL to Update eBay Listings Automatically.
📄 CSV Templates
If you don't already have a CSV ready, 3Dsellers provides templates you can download at the top of the Import New Products screen:
Excel Product Template + Instructions
GTC CSV Template
Auction CSV Template
Variation (standard) CSV Template
Variation (Parent SKU) CSV Template
Car Compatibility CSV Template
⚠️ Important Behaviors to Know
Unmapped 3Dsellers fields are skipped during import unless you set a Fallback value or map them manually.
Unused CSV columns are ignored — they won't appear anywhere after import.
The Reset button clears all current mapping and starts fresh.
The Save Mapping Preset button only saves the current mapping — it does not start the import.
Start Import begins the actual import; you can't undo this from the mapping screen.
Always check the Preview for important fields like Title, SKU, and Price before importing — these are the hardest to fix later.
✅ Best Practices
Run AI Match first, then fine-tune — even if the result isn't perfect, it usually maps most fields correctly.
Use Save Mapping Preset if you import similar files often, to skip the mapping step next time.
Preview at least 2–3 different rows before importing — Row 1 may not be representative.
Set Fallback values for required fields (price, quantity, condition) to avoid failed rows.
Use Fallback for constant values (e.g. same carrier across all products) to keep your CSV cleaner.
For Inkfrog migrations, always select Inkfrog Migration as the Migration Source so images are re-hosted correctly.
Use Find Category ID to confirm category IDs before importing — invalid IDs are a common cause of failed rows.
❓ FAQ
Q: What happens if AI Match doesn't map all my columns?
The results banner shows how many columns matched and how many didn't. Click click to review to see the unmapped fields and CSV columns, then map them manually in the table below. You can also click Re-run AI Match to try again.
Q: Can I edit a mapping after running AI Match? Yes. Every field in the mapping table is editable. AI suggestions are starting points — you can change any field manually.
Q: Does AI Match guarantee a perfect mapping? No. AI Match is highly accurate for common column names, but it can miss or mis-match unfamiliar headers. Always review your mapping before clicking Start Import.
Q: My CSV has empty cells. What happens? If a cell is empty, 3Dsellers uses the Fallback value (if you set one) or leaves the field blank. For required fields with no Fallback, the product may not import.
Q: Can I import products using the same CSV mapping again later?
Yes — click Save Mapping Preset before importing. The preset will appear in the Mapping Presets dropdown on your next import, and selecting it will automatically fill in all mapping settings.
Q: How do I delete a saved Mapping Preset? Open the Mapping Presets dropdown and click the trash icon next to the preset you want to remove.
Q: Does Match Columns With AI work for migration files (like Inkfrog)?
Yes. But the system automatically detects an Inkfrog's file and map it by itself.
Q: Can I switch the preview to a different row?
Yes. Use the Row dropdown in the Preview column header to switch to any row in your CSV. This is useful if the first row has unusual or missing data.
Q: What's the difference between Parent SKU and Variation SKU in the Mapping SKU section? The two options refer to where your CSV came from:
Parent SKU — your CSV follows 3Dsellers' own Parent SKU template format (download the Variation (Parent SKU) CSV Template from the top of the Import screen for an example).
Variation SKU — your CSV is an exported variations report from eBay. Choose the one that matches the source of your file.
Q: How do I find the right eBay Category ID for my products?
Use the Find Category ID dropdown at the top of the Mapping screen. Choose Find eBay Category IDs or Find eBay Store Category IDs, search or browse for your category, then click Copy to copy the Category ID into your CSV or fallback field.
Q: What's the difference between Tags in the Mapping section and Tags in the mapping table?
The Tags field at the top of the Mapping section applies the same tags to every product in the import. The Tags row inside the mapping table lets you map a CSV column to per-row tags.
