Common eBay GPSR Listing Errors and How to Fix Them

If eBay is blocking a listing from publishing, showing a compliance warning, or suppressing it from EU/UK search results, it's usually because one or more required GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation) fields are missing.

This article is a quick troubleshooting reference. For the full step-by-step walkthrough of the GPSR editor and bulk tools, see eBay GPSR Editor & Bulk Actions.

Common GPSR Error Triggers

1. Missing Responsible Person

Products shipping to EU/UK buyers need a designated Responsible Person - an EU-based contact who can hold safety documentation and respond to compliance inquiries. If this section is left empty in GPSR/Compliance → Responsible persons, eBay will flag the listing.

2. Missing Manufacturer Details

eBay requires a manufacturer name, contact email, and physical address for traceability. This lives under GPSR/Compliance → Product manufacture details. An incomplete address (for example, missing ZIP code or country) can trigger the same error as leaving the section blank.

3. Missing Safety Information or Hazard Warnings

Certain categories (electronics, toys, tools, anything with a battery or chemical component) require specific safety pictograms and statements under Product safety information, and hazard data (component, signal word, GHS pictograms, EUH/GHS statements) under Product hazard information if the item contains hazardous materials. Skipping these for a category that requires them is a frequent cause of listing errors.

How to Fix It

Fix a Single Listing

  1. Open the listing and go to the GPSR/Compliance tab.

  2. Click Edit GPSR (or Add if nothing has been entered yet).

  3. Fill in whichever sections are missing: Product manufacture details, Product safety information, Product hazard information, and Responsible persons.

  4. Click Update Listing to save and publish the change to eBay.

Fix Multiple Listings at Once

If the same manufacturer or Responsible Person applies to a batch of listings, don't repeat the steps above one by one - use the bulk tool instead:

  1. In the Listings Manager, select all affected listings using the checkboxes.

  2. Click Bulk Actions → Set/Update GPSR.

  3. In the Bulk Update GPSR panel, fill in the sections that need to be added (the panel shows Create/Add buttons for each section since it's applying to multiple items at once).

  4. Optionally click Save as New GPSR preset so the same information can be reused on future listings without re-entering it.

  5. Click Update to apply the changes to all selected listings.

FAQ

Does every listing need GPSR information?

Only listings that ship to EU/UK buyers, or that fall into a category eBay treats as regulated. If a listing never ships there, GPSR fields typically aren't required.

I filled everything in and I'm still seeing the error.

Double check the address fields - an incomplete address (e.g. missing postal code) is treated the same as a missing section. Also confirm you clicked Update Listing / Update to actually save and re-publish, not just close the modal.

Can I reuse the same GPSR information across listings?

Yes - use Save as New GPSR preset when editing a listing or during a bulk update, then select that preset on future listings instead of re-entering the same details.
