Invoice and Packing Slip Templates: Barcode, Bin Location

Design one invoice template for 3Dsellers invoices and packing slips on your eBay orders, then print them for one order or in bulk as a single PDF.

Written by Amit Fidelman

A 3Dsellers invoice template controls how the invoices and packing slips you print from 3Dsellers Orders look: which seller, buyer and order details show, in what order, with an optional barcode, ePID and Bin Location. Open it under Orders & Disputes > Orders Tool > Invoice Template. Then select orders, click Print and pick Generate Invoice or Generate Packing Slip. Both documents use the template you choose in the dialog.

⚠️ When you select more than one order in 3Dsellers Orders and Create multipage invoice (or Create multipage packing slip) is not ticked, no PDF opens. 3Dsellers builds the documents in the background and tells you in your notifications when they are ready. Tick the multipage box, for up to 20 orders, to get one PDF straight away.

Where do I find invoice templates in 3Dsellers?

  1. In 3Dsellers, open Orders & Disputes and expand Orders Tool in the left menu.

  2. Click Invoice Template. It sits below Automations, Tracking CSV and Order Insights.

  3. Read the Invoice Templates list. Each row shows the template Name, Created, Updated and Actions.

Click a row, or the pencil icon under Actions, to open that template in the editor. Click + Add template to start a new one. The other two icons under Actions copy and delete a template.

How do I edit an invoice template?

The 3Dsellers invoice template editor shows the invoice as a page you edit directly. Its title reads Edit invoice template, followed by the template name.

  1. Open a template from Invoice Templates.

  2. Look at the five sections from top to bottom: HEADER, SHIP TO, ORDER INFO, ITEMS TABLE and FOOTER & TOTALS.

  3. To change the order of the sections, drag a section by the dotted handle at the left of its grey bar.

  4. To hide a whole section, click the eye icon on its bar. To use Reset section on one section, click the circular arrow on its bar.

  5. Use Preview Invoice at the top right to see the result, and the - and + buttons next to the percentage to zoom the editor in or out.

Preview Invoice builds the invoice from a fixed sample order, not from one of your own orders. Use it to check the layout only.

What does the Editor legend say?

Click Editor legend under the title for a short key to the 3Dsellers invoice template editor.

The Editor legend popover in the 3Dsellers invoice template editor, explaining placeholders, fixed text, hidden fields, editable labels and reordering rows.

It covers placeholders, fixed text, hidden fields, editable labels and reordering rows.

How do I show, hide, rename or add fields?

Each row in a 3Dsellers invoice template section is one line of the printed document. A row with a blue tag such as {{seller_name}} is a placeholder: 3Dsellers replaces it with the real value from each order. A row with an orange tag, such as the TAX ID/VAT: row, is fixed text that you typed.

  1. Click the eye icon at the left of a row to hide it. Hidden rows do not print. Click the eye again to show it.

  2. Click a row to open its options: Show in invoice, Show label, Label text and Value type.

  3. To rename a label, change the Label text. For example, the Ship To section starts with the label POST TO.

  4. To change what a row shows, set Value type to Placeholder and pick one from the searchable list, or to Custom text and type your own text.

  5. To add a row, click Add field at the bottom of a section, enter a label such as VAT Number, choose the value type, and add it.

⭐ The ITEMS TABLE section in the 3Dsellers invoice template editor is locked. It reads Items table is auto-generated; only the optional fields below can be toggled. You cannot change its columns: Item, Qty, Price and Total.

Can I upload a logo in the invoice template editor?

The image at the top left of the HEADER section in the 3Dsellers invoice template editor is the {{seller_avatar}} placeholder. The editor has no upload control for it, so you cannot pick a different image there.

Under the image, the Visible button hides or shows it on the printed invoice.

How do I add a barcode, ePID or Bin Location?

Barcode

  1. In the HEADER section of the 3Dsellers invoice template editor, find the barcode image at the top right.

  2. Click Visible under it to show or hide the barcode on the printed invoice.

  3. Open the select under Visible. It shows SKU. Choose SKU to barcode the item SKU, or Order number to barcode the order number.

The barcode block in the HEADER section of the 3Dsellers invoice template editor, with the Visible button and the select set to SKU.

With Order number chosen, only the barcode changes. The SKU: line in the items table stays.

ePID and Bin Location

  1. Scroll to the ITEMS TABLE section.

  2. Find the row Optional fields:. It has an eye button for ePID and one for Bin Location.

  3. Click an eye to turn that field on. Both start off.

  4. Click Save.

The Optional fields row in the ITEMS TABLE section of the 3Dsellers invoice template editor, with the ePID and Bin Location eye buttons.
  • ePID and Bin Location print as extra lines under the item name, not as new columns.

  • ePID comes from the product in your 3Dsellers catalog. Bin Location comes from products in warehouse inventory.

  • Preview Invoice uses a sample order, so it cannot confirm your own values.

How do I save, copy or delete a template?

  • Save stores your changes and keeps you in the editor. Save & Exit stores them and returns to the list.

  • A new template asks for a name when you first save: Name your template, with the line Give this template a name so you can find it later.

  • To make a variation of a template, click the copy icon under Actions in the list. 3Dsellers adds the copy with copy after the name and shows Template duplicated.

  • To delete one, click the trash icon under Actions. 3Dsellers asks you to confirm and warns that this cannot be undone. It then shows Template deleted.

How do I print an invoice or packing slip?

From the Print button

  1. Open Orders & Disputes and go to your orders.

  2. Tick the orders you want. The Print button is greyed out until you do; point at it to read Select items from the table to print.

  3. Click Print and choose Generate Invoice or Generate Packing Slip. The same menu also has Generate Pick List and Print SKU Labels.

Where it is on the full 3Dsellers screen, outlined in blue: the Print menu on the 3Dsellers Orders page with Generate Invoice, Generate Packing Slip, Generate Pick List and Print SKU Labels.

From one order

Click the printer icon in the order's Actions column. The menu offers Generate Invoice, Generate Packing Slip, Generate Pick List and Generate Barcode. If a barcode already exists for that order, Download Barcode is listed too. If the order already has an invoice or packing slip, the entry reads Download Invoice or Download Packing Slip instead.

For a single order, the invoice PDF opens in a new browser tab. The packing slip PDF opens in the same tab.

What do the options in the Generate Invoice dialog mean?

Choosing Generate Invoice from the Print menu opens a dialog that says how many orders it will cover, for example Invoices will be generated for 2 orders.

  1. Invoice template - pick which 3Dsellers invoice template to use. The template marked (default) is already selected when the dialog opens.

  2. Regenerate invoice - tick it to recreate an invoice that was already generated. The tooltip reads Invoice will be recreated even if the invoice was already generated.

  3. Create multipage invoice - tick it to get all the invoices in one PDF. The tooltip reads Invoices will be generated as a single PDF file. Maximum amount of orders is 20.

  4. Click Generate Invoice to run it, or Close to cancel.

How do I print a packing slip with my template?

Generate Packing Slip works the same way, and 3Dsellers packing slips use the invoice template you pick. The select in that dialog is still named Invoice template, so the layout you design in the editor applies to both documents. It also has Regenerate packing slip (tick it to apply template changes to an existing packing slip) and Create multipage packing slip.

What happens when I print several orders at once?

What 3Dsellers does depends on whether you tick the multipage option:

You select

Multipage ticked?

Result

One order

Not needed

The PDF opens. The invoice opens in a new tab; the packing slip opens in the same tab.

2 to 20 orders

Yes

One merged PDF with all the documents opens.

More than 20 orders

The checkbox is greyed out

Same as unticked: no PDF opens and 3Dsellers builds the documents in the background. If a multipage run still covers more than 20 orders, 3Dsellers stops with Multipage invoice supports up to 20 orders. Select fewer orders. (packing slips: Multipage packing slip supports up to 20 orders. Select fewer orders.)

Several orders

No

No PDF opens. The dialog closes and 3Dsellers builds the documents in the background.

In the background case, your notifications first read Generating invoices is in progress. When it finishes you see Invoices generated successfully. Print Invoices (for packing slips: Packing slips generated successfully. Print Packing Slips). Click the underlined link. 3Dsellers asks Download all invoices as a single merged PDF? Click Yes, download and a PDF is saved to your computer.

⚠️ Selecting more than one order and leaving the multipage box unticked does not open a PDF. Watch your notifications for the Print Invoices or Print Packing Slips link, or tick Create multipage invoice next time (20 orders at most).

Troubleshooting

I selected several orders and no PDF opened

This is how 3Dsellers works when Create multipage invoice or Create multipage packing slip is not ticked: it builds the documents in the background instead of opening a PDF. Look in your notifications for Invoices generated successfully. Print Invoices and click the link. Or select up to 20 orders and tick the multipage option.

It says "Select fewer orders"

A multipage invoice or packing slip in 3Dsellers holds at most 20 orders. The multipage checkbox is greyed out above 20. Untick it to run the background job for any number of orders, or print in batches of 20.

My invoice or packing slip did not change after I edited the template

In the Generate Invoice dialog, tick Regenerate invoice. Its tooltip reads Invoice will be recreated even if the invoice was already generated. In the Generate Packing Slip dialog, tick Regenerate packing slip; its tooltip adds Tick this to apply template changes to an existing packing slip. Also check that the Invoice template select shows the template you edited. If an order's printer menu shows Download Invoice, that entry opens the invoice already saved, so use Print and Generate Invoice with Regenerate ticked instead.

ePID or Bin Location is missing on my invoice

Both fields are off until you turn them on under Optional fields: in the ITEMS TABLE section. They only print when the product has the value: Bin Location comes from products in warehouse inventory, and ePID from the catalog product. Preview Invoice always shows sample values, so it cannot prove yours will appear.

FAQ

Do 3Dsellers packing slips use my invoice template?

Yes - when you choose Generate Packing Slip, 3Dsellers builds the packing slip from the invoice template you pick in the dialog, so one design covers both documents.

Can I change the columns in the 3Dsellers invoice items table?

No - the Items table is generated automatically with Item, Qty, Price and Total. You can only turn on the optional ePID and Bin Location lines.

Why did 3Dsellers not open a PDF for my selected orders?

With several orders selected and the multipage box unticked, 3Dsellers generates the documents in the background. It shows a Print Invoices or Print Packing Slips link in your notifications when they are ready. Tick the multipage box for up to 20 orders to open one PDF straight away.

How many orders can I put in one multipage PDF in 3Dsellers?

Up to 20. Above 20 the multipage checkbox is greyed out, and a multipage run stops with a message asking you to select fewer orders.

Can the invoice barcode show the order number instead of the SKU?

Yes - in the HEADER section of the 3Dsellers invoice template editor, choose Order number in the select under the barcode's Visible button. The default is SKU.
