Restock Inventory After eBay and Shopify Returns

Turn on the Restock inventory after return switch so 3Dsellers adds returned eBay and Shopify items back to your product quantity.

To restock inventory automatically after a return, open the channel settings of your account in 3Dsellers, select Update the product quantity on 3Dsellers. and turn on the Restock inventory after return. switch. From then on, 3Dsellers adds the returned quantity back to the product once the return is completed on the channel. 3Dsellers restocks eligible eBay and Shopify returns. The switch is off until you turn it on.

⚠️ Nothing is restocked until you turn the Restock inventory after return. switch on and click Save. In 3Dsellers both switches in this article are off by default, and they appear only after you select Update the product quantity on 3Dsellers.

⭐ Same word, different feature. Elsewhere in the Help Center, "restock" means topping up the eBay quantity after a sale (the Inventory Control articles). This article is about something else: adding stock back to your 3Dsellers product after a return.

Where do I find the Restock inventory after return switch?

The 3Dsellers return restock switch is a setting of each selling account, not of each product. It is in the window eBay integrations settings for your account name (the title names the channel). To open it from the eBay Accounts page:

  1. In the left sidebar of 3Dsellers, click Settings, then Integrations, then eBay Accounts.

  2. Find your account in the table. In the Multichannel Catalog column, click Settings next to the switch. The Settings button shows only while Multichannel Catalog is on for that account.

The window opens with the title eBay integrations settings for and your account name, then the Price Sync section.

How do I turn on Restock inventory after return?

Follow these steps in the eBay integrations settings window in 3Dsellers. The Restock inventory after return. switch is in the last section, Inventory Updates from Received Orders.

  1. Scroll down to Inventory Updates from Received Orders. Its first line reads When an order is received on eBay and your account name, then and imported into 3Dsellers:.

  2. Select Update the product quantity on 3Dsellers. The other choice is Don't update the product quantity on 3Dsellers.

  1. Two switches appear under that choice. Turn on Restock inventory after return. The ? icon next to it opens a tooltip that begins "Restock catalog quantity automatically when an order is returned."

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the window and click Save. Click Cancel instead to leave without changes.

The switches are on/off switches, not checkboxes. Both stay hidden while Don't update the product quantity on 3Dsellers. is selected.


What does 3Dsellers do when a return is completed?

With Restock inventory after return. turned on, 3Dsellers adds the returned quantity back to the product as soon as the return is completed on your eBay account. It restocks each return only once. A repeated return event for the same return does not add the stock again.

  • Channels: 3Dsellers restocks eligible eBay and Shopify returns. Returns with several items are handled.

  • Shopify: 3Dsellers restocks only the units that Shopify marks as restocked. Damaged items, or items the buyer keeps, are not added back.

  • Where the stock goes: 3Dsellers adds the units to the eligible warehouse with the highest priority. It never restocks into an FBA location.

  • Turn it on first: the switch is off until you save it, so nothing is restocked before then.

What does Update inventory for Active / Not yet Paid orders do?

The Update inventory for Active / Not yet Paid orders. switch in 3Dsellers makes the product quantity go down as soon as the order is placed on your channel account, before the buyer pays. It sits in the same section as the return restock switch and is also off by default.

  • 3Dsellers reduces the quantity only once. It does not reduce it again when the order is later marked paid.

  • The switch appears only after you select Update the product quantity on 3Dsellers.

  • Click Save after changing it, the same as for the return restock switch.


Is there another way to open these settings?

Yes. The same settings window opens from the Inventory Management page in 3Dsellers:

  1. In the left sidebar click Product Catalog, then Inventory Management, then Inventory Management. The page is titled Multichannel Inventory Management.

  2. Click Inventory Sync Setting by Channel at the top right.

  1. In the dialog Inventory Sync Settings by Channel, find your account. The Inventory Sync column shows ON or OFF.

  2. Click Edit Settings in that row. The settings window opens. Scroll to Inventory Updates from Received Orders and follow the steps above.

If your account does not use Multichannel Catalog, open Inventory Management, then Inventory Sync in the Listing Tool, and click Inventory Sync Settings by Channel there, then Edit Settings. Troubleshooting

I don't see the Restock inventory after return switch

In 3Dsellers the switch appears only when Update the product quantity on 3Dsellers. is selected in Inventory Updates from Received Orders. Select it, and both switches show underneath.

I returned an item and the quantity did not change

First check that Restock inventory after return. is turned on and saved for that account. In 3Dsellers it is off by default, and nothing is restocked until you save it. Then check that the return is completed on the channel: 3Dsellers restocks when the return is completed, and only once per return. For Shopify, only units that Shopify marks as restocked are added back.

I don't know which warehouse got the stock

3Dsellers adds returned units to the highest-priority eligible warehouse and never to an FBA location. This article does not cover how warehouse priority is set.

I can't find the Settings button on the eBay Accounts page

The Settings button in the Multichannel Catalog column shows only while that account's Multichannel Catalog switch is on. Open the window from Inventory Sync Setting by Channel instead, as described above.


FAQ

Is Restock inventory after return turned on by default in 3Dsellers?

No - in 3Dsellers the Restock inventory after return switch is off by default, and so is the switch for Active / Not yet Paid orders. Nothing is restocked until you turn the switch on and click Save.

Can one return restock the same item twice?

No - 3Dsellers restocks each return only once. A repeated return event does not add the stock again.

Which channels does 3Dsellers restock returns for?

3Dsellers restocks eligible eBay and Shopify returns. This article does not describe how the switch behaves on other channels.

Does 3Dsellers restock damaged Shopify returns?

No - for Shopify returns, 3Dsellers restocks only the units that Shopify marks as restocked, so damaged items or items the buyer keeps are not added back.

When does 3Dsellers add the quantity back?

The tooltip says 3Dsellers adds the returned quantity back to the product as soon as the return is completed on your channel account.

Does 3Dsellers restock into an FBA warehouse?

No - 3Dsellers adds returned units to the eligible warehouse with the highest priority, and FBA locations are excluded.

Does the unpaid orders switch reduce quantity twice?

No - with Update inventory for Active / Not yet Paid orders. turned on, 3Dsellers reduces the quantity once, as soon as the order is placed. It is not reduced again when the order is later marked paid.

Is this the same as restocking an eBay listing after a sale?

No - the Inventory Control articles use "restock" for topping up the eBay quantity after a sale. Restock inventory after return in 3Dsellers adds stock back to your product after a return.
