eBay Error: Missing Required Item Specifics
This error means eBay is blocking the listing because one or more required Item Specifics for that category are empty - things like Brand, Type, Model, Color, or other category-specific fields eBay mandates for search and buyer filtering.
Why This Happens
The category eBay assigned requires specifics that weren't filled in when the listing was created or imported
The listing's category was changed, and the new category has different required fields than the old one
A CSV import didn't include a value for a required specific
eBay updated its required-specifics list for that category after the listing was already live
Fix a Single Listing
Open the listing and go to the Item Specs tab.
Look for fields marked as required (usually flagged red or with an asterisk) that are empty.
Fill in the missing value(s) and save/update the listing.
If you're not sure which fields eBay actually requires, opening the Error Log and clicking How to fix? next to the error will show the exact field(s) eBay flagged for that item.
Fix Multiple Listings at Once
If the same specifics are missing across a batch of listings (for example, after a category change), you don't need to fix them one by one:
AI Bulk Actions: Select the affected listings, then use AI → Generate Item Specifics, choosing "Required specifics only" if you just want to fill the missing mandatory fields. Review suggestions in AI Actions Approvals before applying.
CSV Import: If you already know the exact values (e.g. the same Brand or Manufacturer applies to a batch), use the
C:FieldNamecolumn format (e.g.C:Brand) in a CSV and re-import to set them precisely.

Note for Variation Listings
If the listing has variations, make sure the specific used for the variation (e.g. Color, Size) isn't also duplicated on the main listing's Item Specifics - that's a separate, related error. See this article if that's the case.
🙋 Need Help?
If you've filled in the fields shown in the error and it's still not resolving, contact Support with the item ID - occasionally eBay updates a category's required fields and the listing needs a fresh republish to pick up the new requirement.
