How to Automatically End and Re-list eBay GTC Listings with 3Dsellers Re-list Automation

Use 3Dsellers Re-list Automation to automatically end and re-list your eBay fixed-price (GTC) listings. Get a new listing ID, refresh stale inventory, and boost search visibility — all on autopilot.

Written by Karolina Santiago

All eBay fixed-price listings run on a Good 'Til Cancelled (GTC) cycle — they auto-renew every 30 days, but that renewal doesn't create a new listing ID or reset your position in eBay search results. Over time, stale listings drift down in Best Match, losing visibility and sales.

The 3Dsellers Re-list Automation in the Listing Tool solves this by automatically ending and re-listing your fixed-price listings based on custom rules and schedules. Each re-list generates a fresh listing ID, making your item appear as new in eBay search — without you lifting a finger.

For this example, we'll create a rule that:

  • Automatically ends and re-lists GTC fixed-price listings every Monday at 08:00 UTC

  • Only targets non-performing items with 0 sales in the last 30 days

  • Re-lists using the same listing settings and data, generating a new listing ID each time

Create a Re-list Automation Rule

Visit Listing Tool → Automations and click New Automation.

Name the automation

Enter a clear name for your rule.

Example: re-list

You can also add internal notes if needed.

Select the trigger type

Under Trigger, choose:

Run By Schedule

This allows the automation to run automatically based on your preferred schedule.

Configure the schedule

Choose how often the automation should run.

In this example, we set:

  • Schedule: Weekly

  • Day: Monday

  • Time: 08:00

  • Timezone: UTC

This means the automation will check and re-list matching listings every Monday morning automatically.

Set item conditions

This allows 3Dsellers to target non-performing fixed-price listings with a low sell-through rate — the items most likely to benefit from a fresh listing ID and a reset in eBay search.

When item sold:

  • Equal to 0

  • In the last 30 days

This allows the automation to target items based on recent sales activity.

You can also add additional filters using the Filter option to narrow down which listings are included.

Choose the action

Under Actions, select:

Re-list Item

This action will end and re-list your fixed-price (GTC) listing using the same settings and data. The re-listed item gets a brand new eBay listing ID, making it appear as a fresh listing in eBay's Best Match search results.

and you can click Save And Activate to enable the automation immediately.

🧩 Common Re-list Automation Use Cases

Use Case 1 — Refreshing Stale Listings to Improve Visibility

Scenario

You have listings that have been active for a long time with little or no sales activity. Older GTC listings can lose momentum in eBay search over time.

Recommended Setup

Create an automation that re-lists items after they have been live for a set number of days.

Suggested configuration:

  • Trigger: Run By Schedule

  • Schedule: Weekly

  • Condition:

    • Enable:

When item is live → More than → 20 days
  • Action: Re-list Item

Optional:
Use filters to target only specific inventory segments, categories, tags, or low-performing listings. To learn more about creating and using tags, see: What Are Tags for eBay Listings and How Do I Use Them?

Example:

Tag → contains → slow-moving

Result

3Dsellers automatically ends and re-lists stale listings using the same listing data and settings, helping refresh listing visibility in eBay search.

Use Case 2 — Automatically Rotating Slow-Moving Inventory

Scenario

You manage a large inventory catalog and want older products continuously refreshed without manually monitoring them.

Recommended Setup

Create a recurring automation for older active listings.

Suggested configuration:

  • Trigger: Run By Schedule

  • Schedule: Weekly or Monthly

  • Condition:

    • Enable:

When item is live → More than → 30 days
  • Action: Re-list Item

Optional:
Add filters for:

  • specific categories

  • tags

  • listing types

  • older inventory

Example:

Category → equals → Smartphones

Result

Your inventory automatically cycles through fresh listing IDs without requiring manual maintenance.

Use Case 3 — Maintaining Long-Term Multi-Quantity Listings

Scenario

You sell replenishable inventory using long-running GTC listings but still want listings periodically refreshed.

Recommended Setup

Create a scheduled re-list automation with a longer listing age threshold.

Suggested configuration:

  • Trigger: Run By Schedule

  • Schedule: Monthly

  • Condition:

    • Enable:

When item is live → More than → 45 days
  • Action: Re-list Item

Optional:
Use filters to target only:

  • fixed-price listings

  • specific tags

  • selected campaigns

  • warehouse inventory groups

Example:

Listing Type → equals → Fixed Price

Result

Listings continue operating normally while periodically receiving fresh listing IDs automatically.

Use Case 4 — Seasonal Inventory Refreshing

Scenario

You sell seasonal inventory such as:

  • holiday items

  • summer products

  • sports merchandise

  • back-to-school products

During peak seasons, keeping listings fresh can help maintain visibility and buyer engagement.

Recommended Setup

Create a short-cycle seasonal automation during active sales periods.

Suggested configuration:

  • Trigger: Run By Schedule

  • Schedule: Weekly

  • Condition:

    • Enable:

When item is live → More than → 10 days
  • Action: Re-list Item

Optional: Use Filters to Target Seasonal Listings Only

Instead of applying the automation to your entire catalog, use filters to target specific listings.

Example filter setup:

Title → contains → summer

You can also use filters such as:

  • Tag

  • SKU

  • Category

  • eBay Store Category

  • Campaign

  • Listing Type

  • Site

  • Price

  • Quantity Sold

Additional examples:

Tag → contains → holiday
Category → equals → Christmas Decorations

Result

Only listings matching your selected filters are automatically re-listed, helping keep seasonal inventory fresh without affecting your entire catalog.

Use Case 5 — High-Volume Sellers Managing Thousands of Listings

Scenario

You manage thousands of eBay listings across multiple stores or categories and want to automate repetitive listing maintenance.

Recommended Setup

Create segmented automation rules using filters.

Suggested configuration:

  • Trigger: Run By Schedule

  • Schedule: Weekly

  • Condition:

    • Enable:

When item is live → More than → 20 days
  • Action: Re-list Item

Use filters to target:

  • specific categories

  • inventory segments

  • listing formats

  • listing campaigns

  • store categories

Example:

eBay Store Category → contains → Clearance

Result

3Dsellers automatically maintains listing activity across large catalogs without requiring manual relisting work.

Use Case 6 — Re-listing Unsold Items Automatically

Scenario

You want listings with no recent sales activity to be refreshed automatically while active sellers remain untouched.

Recommended Setup

Use the “When item sold” condition together with listing age rules.

Suggested configuration:

  • Trigger: Run By Schedule

  • Schedule: Weekly

  • Conditions:

    • Enable:

      When item sold → More than → 0 → in → 30 days
    • AND:

When item is live → More than → 15 days
  • Action: Re-list Item

Optional:
Add filters to exclude strong-performing products.

Example:

Quantity Sold → less than → 5

Result

Listings that remain active but haven’t sold recently are automatically refreshed while strong-performing listings continue uninterrupted.

How this automation works

At every scheduled run time, 3Dsellers scans your eBay store and automatically ends and re-lists any fixed-price (GTC) listings that match your selected conditions and filters.

This helps you:

  • Generate a new listing ID — your item appears as brand new in eBay search results

  • Replace passive GTC auto-renewal with an active relist that actually resets your search position

  • Target stale, non-performing listings based on sell-through conditions you control

  • Boost visibility in eBay Best Match by keeping listings fresh on a consistent schedule

  • Eliminate manual re-listing work across your entire eBay store inventory

Why end and re-list instead of letting eBay auto-renew?

When eBay auto-renews a GTC listing every 30 days, it keeps the same listing ID and the same start date — your item is not treated as new in eBay search. Listings that auto-renew repeatedly can slowly drift down in Best Match, even if they're still active.

By using 3Dsellers Re-list Automation to end and re-list instead of allowing eBay to auto-renew, your fixed-price listing:

  • Gets a brand new eBay listing ID

  • Resets its start date, signaling freshness to eBay's search algorithm

  • Appears as a newly listed item in Best Match and search results

  • Gives stale inventory a second chance to sell without any manual work

Important notes

  • All eBay fixed-price listings are Good 'Til Cancelled (GTC) by default, meaning this automation applies to the majority of your active eBay inventory.

  • When 3Dsellers ends and re-lists a GTC listing, the re-list uses the same insertion fee slot that eBay's passive monthly auto-renewal would have consumed — so you get a fresh listing ID at no extra cost in most cases.

  • Re-listing an item on eBay may incur insertion fees depending on your eBay subscription and marketplace settings.

  • Auctions are not supported for Re-list Automation.

  • Make sure the selected marketplace matches the marketplace where the item was originally listed.

  • International and eBay Motors listings should be managed under their corresponding marketplace accounts for re-listing to work properly.

Monitor your automation

After saving the automation, you can:

  • View it from the Automations page

  • Edit schedules and filters anytime

  • Check execution history in the Logs tab
