How to phase out old design templates that you can't remove from eBay listings

Tag all the listings with your old template, then, only apply 3Dsellers listing designs to new listings without the tag.

Phasing out old templates means you will leave the old templates on your listings, then apply new templates to new listings. Over time, as your old listings end or sell out, your new template will eventually be the only template on your eBay listings.

Steps to phasing out old templates:

Step 1) Tag all the listings with your old template

If you just signed up for 3Dsellers, and all of your old listings have the template, skip the next portion of Step 1 and simply apply Tags to all of your listings (tag name example: "Old Template")

a) Generate CSV report of descriptions and Item IDs

This step is to determine which listings have the old template, and create a CSV to upload and apply the tag.

  • Use "Listings - From eBay" as the Report Type

  • Choose "item_id" and "description" for Fields

  • Generate the report

b) Create a CSV to tag the listings with old templates

  • Open the CSV report in a spreadsheet app

  • Find any short HTML code that appears in all of the listing descriptions with the template.

  • Copy the code you choose.

  • Create a new worksheet

  • For Column Headers,

    • Label A1 as "Item ID"

    • and C1 as "Tags"

    • Leave B1 blank

  • In A2, use the FILTER function to import rows from the CSV report that include the template code in the description.

  • Highlight everything an copy it:

  • Create one last worksheet

  • and paste as plain text:

  • In the new worksheet,

    • delete column B

    • Add your Tag to column C for all item rows

  • Save the worksheet as a CSV

c) Upload the CSV you created to 3Dsellers to apply the tags

Use the Update Listings CSV feature to apply the tags to your listings with the CSV.

Step 2) Filter out old template listings before applying the design

Before using Listing Designer to select all of your items and apply a template, apply a filter to remove listings with the Tag from the list:
