Variation SKU vs Parent SKU
Variation CSVs require two types of SKUs.
Parent SKUs (main listing)
Parent SKUs are essential for proper synchronization between 3Dsellers and platforms like eBay. Missing parent SKUs can cause synchronization failures, as the parent SKU acts as a central identifier for aligning variations and stock information across platforms.
and Variation SKUs
Import Variations CSV Format
Organize the SKUs in your spreadsheet so that each variation row includes the Parent SKU.
SKU | Parent SKU |
MAIN_LISTING |
|
variation_1 | MAIN_LISTING |
variation_2 | MAIN_LISTING |
Parent Row (Main Listing)
Only include data that does not change with the variation.
SKU | ParentSKU | Title | Description | Category |
MAIN_LISTING |
| Rope Hammock | Relax in Trees | 20719 |
variation_1 | MAIN_LISTING |
|
|
|
Variation Row
Variation rows can only include
Price, Quantities, UPC/EAN
Item Specifics that make that variation unique
SKU | ParentSKU | UPC | Price | Color |
MAIN_LISTING |
|
|
|
|
variation_1 | MAIN_LISTING | 000025 | 19.99 | Charcoal |
variation_2 | MAIN_LISTING | 000026 | 24.99 | White |
Example:
SKU | Parent SKU | Title | Description | Price | Color |
MAIN_LISTING |
| Rope Hammock | Relax in Trees |
|
|
variation_1 | MAIN_LISTING |
|
| 19.99 | Charcoal |
variation_2 | MAIN_LISTING |
|
| 24.99 | White |
Edit eBay Variations with a CSV
There are two ways to update variations with a 3Dsellers eBay CSV.
Option 1 - Update Values
Edit price and inventory (no Parent SKU needed, only the Variation SKU)
Update Values is the easiest variation CSV editor. However, only one listing detail can be edited per upload.
SKU | Warehouse Quantity |
variation_1 | 29 |
variation_2 | 41 |
Option 2 - Update Listings
Edit almost any eBay listing detail in one upload. However, parent listings and variations must be edited with separate uploads. Read the full walk-through
The CSV requires an SKU and Parent SKU column, just like the Import Variations format. Proper alignment of SKUs is critical during CSV imports. Parent SKUs should match eBay data to ensure accurate synchronization and stock updates, as misaligned SKUs may result in import errors.
SKU | Parent SKU | Price | Warehouse |
variation_1 | MAIN_LISTING | 19.99 | 59 |
variation_2 | MAIN_LISTING | 24.99 | 26 |
If you exported an eBay CSV with variations, Variation SKUs are "variation_sku", and the Parent SKUs are "SKU"
SKU | Brand | category_id | CustomSpecific Thread Color | variation_sku |
55A_ | Puma | 57990 | Orange | 55A_ORNG |
55A_ | Puma | 57990 | Purple | 55A_PRPL |
When you upload the CSV, enable Update Variations by SKU. If the correct column is not detected, you can select it:
SKU Management Best Practices for Synchronization
Ensure that each parent listing has an assigned SKU for proper synchronization. Missing SKUs can lead to discrepancies in updates.
Align SKUs between eBay and 3Dsellers for seamless synchronization. Use the same SKU for parent listings across platforms to prevent errors.
Adjust SKU structures for embedded variation SKUs to avoid synchronization issues.
During CSV imports, double-check that parent SKUs and variation SKUs match your eBay data to prevent import and stock update mistakes.
