The AI Template Designer generates a brand new listing template for you. Describe the design you want, upload a reference image, or point it at an existing eBay listing, and the AI builds a complete 3Dsellers custom HTML template with dynamic placeholders already in place.
The result is a normal template. It lands in your Saved Designs and you can edit it exactly like any other custom HTML template, either in the code editor or visually in the Advanced Editor.
When to use the AI Template Designer
You want a custom template but do not want to write HTML
You have a design in mind and can describe it in a sentence or two
You saw a layout you like, in a screenshot or on another site, and want something similar for your own listings
You want to rebuild an existing eBay listing's design, either exactly or as a modernized version
You want a starting point you can then refine by hand
Step 1 — Open the AI Template Designer
Go to Design → Listing Designer → Templates.
At the top of the Templates page you will see two tiles: Custom HTML Template and AI Template Designer. Click the AI Template Designer tile (the one with the ✦ icon).
The tile shows three shortcut buttons — Prompt, Image, and eBay URL — which open the popup directly on that method. Clicking anywhere else on the tile opens it on the default method.
Step 2 — Choose how you want to start
The AI design template generator popup gives you three ways to start. Pick one at the top of the popup.
Describe it — write a prompt
Type a description of the template you want in the Describe your template field. This field is required for this method.
⭐ Your prompt is the design brief, and it is the single biggest factor in how good the result is.
The AI builds what you describe and guesses at everything you leave out. A vague prompt produces a generic template that could belong to any store. A specific prompt produces something close to finished on the first try, with the sections you actually want, in the order you want them, in your colors.
Since each generation costs credits, time spent on the prompt is time saved on regenerating.
Weak prompt vs. strong prompt
❌ Too vague:
"A nice template for my store."
The AI has to invent the product type, the layout, the colors, and every section. You will most likely get a generic design with sections you did not want and without the ones you did.
✅ Specific:
"Modern minimal jewelry template with a white background and elegant serif headings. Full width header with my store name. Below it, the product image on the left and a specifications table on the right. Then the product description in a light grey box. End with a shipping and returns section in two columns. Soft gold accent color, no bright colors, no promotional banners."
That prompt tells the AI the product category, the visual style, the layout, the exact sections in order, the accent color, and what to avoid.
What to include in your prompt
Work through these six points and your prompt will be strong enough:
Product type — jewelry, car parts, electronics, vintage clothing. This shapes the whole design.
Overall feel — minimal, bold, premium, technical, playful, clean and corporate.
Layout — image left and specs right, single column, two columns, full width header.
Sections and their order — header, gallery, specifications table, description, shipping, returns, about us. List them in the order you want them to appear.
Colors and typography — your brand colors, or a general direction like "dark blue and white, sans-serif". You can also set this with the Color scheme option below instead.
What to leave out — this matters as much as what to include. "No promotional banners", "no feedback section", "no countdown timers".
💡 Write in plain sentences, not keywords. "Specs table under the images, then shipping info at the bottom" works better than "specs, shipping, bottom".
✦ Tip: use AI to write the prompt for you
If you are not sure how to describe what you want, let an AI assistant write the design brief for you first. Open any AI chat tool (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar), paste the text below, answer its questions, then paste its final answer into the Describe your template field.
Copy this:
I want to create an eBay listing description template using an AI template generator.
Act as an e-commerce designer and write me a single detailed prompt I can paste into that generator.
First ask me these questions, one at a time:
1. What products do I sell?
2. Who are my buyers?
3. What style or feel do I want (minimal, premium, bold, technical)?
4. What are my brand colors, if any?
5. Which sections do I want, and in what order?
6. Is there anything I definitely do NOT want in the design?
Then write the final prompt as one clear paragraph in plain English.
Describe the layout, the visual style, the colors, and each section in order.
Also state clearly what to leave out.
Do not include any HTML or code, and do not add explanations. Give me only the prompt itself.
Read the result before you use it. If a detail is wrong, fix it yourself rather than generating and regenerating, since every generation costs credits.
⚠️ Ask the AI assistant for a description of the design, not for HTML code. The AI Template Designer writes the code itself. If you already have finished HTML, use the Custom HTML Template option instead.
Inspired by an image — upload a screenshot
Upload a reference image and the AI will build a template in that visual style.
Drop an image into the upload area or click browse files
Accepted formats: PNG and JPG, up to 5MB
Use the Additional instructions field to tell the AI what to change from the reference. For example:
"Use my store's branding colors instead of the ones in the image, and add a shipping info section."
💡 A clean, full screenshot of the layout works better than a photo of a screen or a cropped detail. The prompt advice above applies to the Additional instructions field too — the more specific you are about what to change, the closer the result.
From an eBay listing — copy or reimagine
Point the AI at a listing that already has a design you want to work from. Paste an eBay listing URL or item ID into the field.
This method has two modes, selected with the toggle above the field:
Copy exactly — replicates the listing's template as closely as possible, with your own product info swapped in through dynamic placeholders. This is the option to use when migrating a design you want to keep unchanged.
Inspired by — builds a new design in the spirit of the source listing rather than reproducing its markup. Use this when you like the general direction but want something cleaner or more modern.
The Additional instructions field works here too. For example:
"Remove the returns section and swap the accent color for my brand color."
Step 3 — Add store branding and colors (optional)
These options are available for all three methods.
Store branding
Store name — the AI will place your store name in the template header
Store logo — upload a logo to be used in the design
Color scheme
Let AI choose (checked by default) — the AI picks a palette that fits your description or reference
Presets — Elegant, Ocean, Forest, Warm, or Mono
Custom — set your own colors
⚠️ If you choose a preset or Custom, uncheck Let AI choose first, and make sure every color in the palette is filled in. An incomplete palette is ignored and the AI will pick the colors itself.
Step 4 — Generate
Click Generate template.
Generation runs in the background. You can keep working while it finishes, and track progress in Saved Designs via the green Actions in progress button, or in your Notifications.
AI credits: each generation costs 10 AI credits. Your remaining balance and the cost are shown at the bottom of the popup before you confirm. Credits are consumed when generation starts, which is why it pays to get the prompt right first. If you need more credits, go to your Billing page.
Step 5 — Edit the generated template
When generation finishes, the new template appears in your Saved Designs list. Click it to open. From here it behaves like any other custom HTML template, and you have two ways to edit it.
Option 1 — Custom Template Editor (HTML)
This is the default view. It shows the generated HTML on the left and a live preview on the right.
Edit the HTML and CSS directly in the code editor
Use Find / Replace to change repeated text or colors in bulk
Insert more Placeholders or images from My Images
Enter an eBay Item ID in the Screen field and click Refresh Preview to see the template with real listing data
Switch between desktop, tablet, and mobile preview
Click Save and close when you are done
Option 2 — Advanced Editor (no HTML needed)
Click the Advanced Editor button in the top right to switch to the visual editor. This is a full rich text editor, so you can adjust the generated design without touching code.
Edit text, fonts, colors, tables, and images visually
Insert dynamic fields from the Dynamic Placeholders panel on the right, organized into Content, Photos, and Item Specifics
Click the <> (Source Code) button at any time to view the raw HTML
Use Preview to check the result, then Save or Save and Exit
💡 You can move between the two editors freely. Use the Advanced Editor for wording and styling tweaks, and the code editor when you need precise control over the markup.
Dynamic placeholders in the generated template
The AI inserts placeholders instead of hardcoding product details, so the same template works across all your listings. When the template is applied, each placeholder is replaced with that listing's real data.

⚠️ Always check that the generated template still contains {description} before applying it. Without it, your listing description will not appear inside the template.
Step 6 — Apply the template to your listings
Saving a template does not apply it. Once you are happy with the design, go to Listing Designer → Listings, select your listings, and use Bulk Actions → Apply Template.
Tips for better results
Spend your time on the prompt, not on regenerating. A detailed brief is the difference between a template you can use and one you throw away.
Name the sections you want. The AI includes what you ask for, so list them in order.
Say what you do not want. Exclusions are as useful to the AI as inclusions.
Preview with a real item ID before applying to your listings, so you can see how your actual titles, images, and specifics fill the layout.
Refine by hand rather than regenerating. Small changes are faster and cheaper in the Advanced Editor than a new generation, which costs another 10 credits.
Duplicate before experimenting. In Saved Designs you can duplicate a template so you always keep the original.
FAQ
My template came out generic. What went wrong?
Almost always the prompt was too short. Go back and describe the product type, the layout, each section in order, the colors, and anything you do not want. Use the checklist in the "Describe it" section above, or have an AI assistant write the brief for you.
Can I edit the template after it is generated?
Yes. The generated template is a normal custom HTML template. Edit the code in the Custom Template Editor, or edit it visually in the Advanced Editor. You can switch between the two at any time.
Are credits used if I do not like the result?
Credits are consumed when generation starts, so they are used regardless of whether you keep the template. Before regenerating, try adjusting the result in the Advanced Editor instead.
Can I generate several versions and compare them?
Yes. Each generation creates a separate template in Saved Designs, so you can generate a few and keep the one you prefer. Each generation costs 10 AI credits.
I am migrating from InkFrog or CrazyLister. Which method should I use?
Use From an eBay listing with Copy exactly, and paste the URL of a listing that still has your old template applied. If you would rather modernize the design instead of reproducing it, use Inspired by.
What image should I use for the store logo?
Use a clean logo file on a transparent or plain background. The logo is placed into the template as an image, so a wide horizontal logo generally works best in a header.
