eBay Error: "Invalid currency for category" (Error 95)

This error means the currency being sent with the listing doesn't match what's allowed for the eBay category on the site/region the listing is being published to.

Cause

eBay categories are tied to a specific eBay site (US, UK, Australia, eBay Motors, etc.), and each site expects listings in its own currency. If the category selected belongs to a different site than the one the listing is actually being published under, the currency mismatch triggers this error.

Likely Trigger

  • A category was picked from a stale or previously-used list that no longer matches the seller account's current eBay site

  • A cross-border listing scenario - for example, a listing originally set up for one eBay site is being republished or copied to a different regional account without updating the category

  • A CSV import or bulk copy that carried over a category ID from a different site

How to Fix

  1. Open the listing and go to its category selection.

  2. Re-select the category from the list, making sure it belongs to the same eBay site/region as the account you're publishing to (for example, don't select an eBay Motors category while publishing to a country site, or a UK category while publishing to eBay US).

  3. Save and republish.

If this happened during a copy/cross-list to a different regional account, double check the category on the destination account specifically - categories don't carry over correctly between eBay sites and need to be re-selected for the destination site.

🙋 Need Help?

If re-selecting the category doesn't resolve it, contact Support with the item ID and the eBay site/account it's being published under.
