Orders Insights: eBay Sales Analytics Overview

See eBay orders, income, best sellers, cases and store performance in 3Dsellers Orders Insights, filtered by 7, 14, 30 days or custom dates.

Written by Tony Adams

Orders Insights in 3Dsellers shows how your eBay store is selling: new orders, income, your best-selling products, the products that cause the most cases, and the results of each store. Open it from Reports > Orders Insights in the left menu. It has two pages, Overview and Breakdown, and both can be filtered by date.

⚠️ Orders Insights is built for your eBay accounts. Each page says so at the top: “The following data is for your eBay accounts only.” For reports across all your sales channels, use Report Center.

What does Orders Insights show in 3Dsellers?

Orders Insights in 3Dsellers is a read-only analytics area for your eBay sales. Nothing you do on these pages changes an order or a listing. It answers questions such as:

  • How many new eBay orders and how much income did I get in the last 7, 14 or 30 days?

  • Is that more or less than the period before?

  • Which product earned the most, and which sold the most units?

  • Which products create the most tickets, returns, inquiries, cancellations and cases?

  • How do my stores compare on sold products, return requests and revenue?

How do I open Orders Insights in 3Dsellers?

  1. In the 3Dsellers left menu, click Reports.

  2. Click Orders Insights to expand it. The group holds three entries: (1) Overview, (2) Breakdown and (3) Listings Insights.

  3. Click Overview or Breakdown to open that page.

The 3Dsellers Reports menu with Orders Insights expanded: Overview (1), Breakdown (2) and Listings Insights (3).

You can also reach the Overview page from the Orders area: Orders Tool > Order Insights in the Orders menu opens the same page.

Listings Insights is a link to ZIK Analytics, a separate listing research website. It opens outside 3Dsellers and is not part of the Overview and Breakdown pages described here.

How do I change the date range in Orders Insights?

Every number, chart and table on the Orders Insights pages in 3Dsellers follows the date filter at the top right of the page.

  1. Click the Filter by date dropdown. It shows 7 days the first time you open a page.

  2. Choose 7 days, 14 days, 30 days or Custom Dates.

  3. For Custom Dates, pick a Start date and an End date in the date range picker that appears next to the dropdown.

The Filter by date dropdown at the top right of the 3Dsellers Orders Insights Overview page, set to 7 days.

The page reloads its data for the new period. Comparisons then read, for example, orders more than last 14 days. With custom dates they compare with the previous period of the same length.

Your choice is saved in this browser, separately for each page. Overview and Breakdown can therefore show different periods. Check the dropdown on each page before you compare numbers.

What is on the Orders Insights Overview page?

The Overview page of 3Dsellers Orders Insights gives you the headline numbers for the period first, then your top products. From top to bottom:

Orders Data in Orders Insights: New orders and Total Income

The Orders Data card has two tiles. (1) New orders is the number of new eBay orders in the period. (2) Total Income is the income with its currency symbol; its tooltip reads “Income = total transactions prices.” Under each number, a small triangle and a sentence tell you how much more or less you had than in the previous period.

Orders Over Time chart in Orders Insights

Orders Over Time is a line chart with one line, Quantity of Orders, across the dates of the period. When it has data, the chart menu at its top right lets you download it as Download SVG, Download PNG or Download CSV.

Highest Earning and Most Sold in Orders Insights

  • Highest Earning: the product that generated the most revenue in the period.

  • Most Sold: the product with the highest sold quantity in the period.

Each card shows the product with its image and title, an Item ID link that opens the listing, its SKU when it has one, and the Qty and Revenue for the period.

Top 10 Products creating the most tickets and inquires

This table lists the products behind the most buyer issues in the period. Next to each product you see these counts:

  • Tickets

  • Returns

  • Inquiries

  • Cancellations

  • Cases

Use it to spot a listing that needs a better description, photos or packaging.

What is on the Orders Insights Breakdown page?

The Breakdown page of 3Dsellers Orders Insights splits the same period by product, category and store. From top to bottom:

  • Most Sold and Most Cases: two product cards side by side, each with Product, Qty and Revenue.

  • Orders by category: a pie chart of your orders by category, with each category's percentage listed next to it.

  • Returns by category: the same view for returns.

  • Store Performance: one row per store, described below.

  • Top 10 Products creating the most tickets and inquires: the same table as on the Overview page.

Store Performance table in Orders Insights

The Store Performance table compares your stores, one row per store. It has four columns: Store Name, Sold Products, Return Requests and Total Revenue. It can also list a store from another channel, such as a WooCommerce store.

Return Requests counts the return requests buyers opened, not the items that actually came back, as its tooltip notes.

What Orders Insights does not do

  • It is not a multichannel report. Each page notes that its data is for your eBay accounts only.

  • It does not export its tables. Only the Orders Over Time chart has a download menu. For files you can open in a spreadsheet, use Report Center.

  • It does not change orders or listings. Every page is read-only.

  • It does not show your helpdesk team's response times. That is Helpdesk Insights.

Troubleshooting Orders Insights

Orders Insights shows 0 or "Sorry, we are still gathering data"

The Orders Over Time chart shows “Sorry, we are still gathering data.” when it has no orders to plot for the chosen period. The cards may then show 0 or No data. If you expected orders in that period, you can try a longer one with 30 days or Custom Dates. It can also help to check that your eBay account is connected to 3Dsellers.

My Amazon, Shopify or Etsy orders are missing from Orders Insights

Orders Insights in 3Dsellers is built for eBay: the line at the top of each page says its data is for your eBay accounts only. Use Report Center for reports across all your sales channels.

Orders Insights Overview and Breakdown show different numbers

Each Orders Insights page remembers its own date filter in your browser. Set the same period in Filter by date on both pages, then compare.

Return Requests in Orders Insights does not match the items I got back

Return Requests in the Store Performance table counts return requests, not returned items. A buyer can open a request and never send the item back.

I cannot download a table from Orders Insights

The Orders Insights tables have no download option. Only the Orders Over Time chart can be downloaded, as SVG, PNG or CSV. Use Report Center for exports.
